Hello, I am Faeze Arami, a PhD student in Water Resources Engineering at the University of Alberta, supervised by Professors Vincent McFarlane and William Zhang. My doctoral research focuses on river ice hydraulics during the freeze-up period, with the goal of developing a method for estimating river discharge when frazil ice pans are partially covering the water surface. Outside of research, I enjoy hiking and exploring Canada's river valleys.

Hi, I'm Nicolas from Peru. I am currently working on building machine learning models to predict water temperature during winter conditions, more precisely, to predict when supercooling in rivers will start. I have a background in Environmental Engineering, but I believe that if you are curious enough, you can study anything. Outside of work, I really enjoy going for walks and, whenever possible, exploring the mountains. I also like playing guitar and reading thriller novels.

Hi, I’m Rick! I completed my B.Sc. in Civil Engineering at the University of Alberta, where I am now pursuing a cross-disciplinary M.Sc. under the supervision of Dr. Vincent McFarlane and Dr. Albert Liu. My research bridges water resources and geotechnical engineering, focusing on determining the erodibility parameters of small dam soils through laboratory testing, then developing breach hydrographs and hydraulic models to aid in consequence classification for small dams in Alberta. Outside of research, I enjoy adventure-filled travels and have recently gotten into playing pickleball.
