About

 About Me

I am an Assistant Professor in Water Resources Engineering and part of the River Ice Research Group at the University of Alberta, with my research primarily focused on ice formation and the river freeze-up process.

Even though it is cold work, I am at my happiest when I am standing in a freezing river surrounded by ice, listening to the sounds of the flowing water and the crunching and grinding of ice floes passing downstream. I am also a passionate teacher and enjoy sharing the wonders of water resources engineering with students of all ages.

I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta and completed my B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. studies at the U of A. Following a two-year Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Manitoba and a brief spell working in the consulting industry, I am proud to be back home and part of the Civil Engineering team at the U of A.
